A Girl's Folly
Silly girl to come running so happily
when her jealous mother
called her by name.
Such a sweet girl,
Dark as a plum.
Grown freely in neglect.
Naturally good.
She came running like a little rabbit
When her mother called.
A girl
all bouncing and skipping,
like a lindy-hop
a dance of bliss, jerks and lifts
when War ended
and Peace was declared.
Kisses in the street.
Such a girl.
